He\u2019s a advocate for teachers and the nobility of teaching profession. He\u2019s got a great poem entitled \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/ethos3\/what-teachers-make-515731?src=embed\">What teachers make<\/a>\u201d. I like the way that the poem has been visualised. It&#8217;s a great example of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madetostick.com\">sticky presentation<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Taylor has and asked (and answered) the question &#8211; What do teachers make? This gives the show an attractive <em>simplicity<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Interest in his ideas are generated and maintained by the way that he shakes peoples expectations. The <em>unexpected<\/em> elements in the presentation maks you want to read more.<\/li>\n<li>Images and text are boldly used accross the screen. Sensory information rather than abstract text keeps the show <em>concrete.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>He&#8217;s obviously a teacher, with a commitment to good spelling and limited bathroom time. There&#8217;s little doubt about his <em>credebility<\/em><\/li>\n<li>He taps into our <em>emotions<\/em> by recounting a story about a child who stood up to a bully. We care about what he has to say because we feel something.<\/li>\n<li>Finally, his presentation uses a <em>story<\/em> to get our attention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Together, the show keeps to the SUCCES (<em>simplicity, unexpected, concrete, credible, emotions and story) <\/em>principles outlines in Chip and Dan Heaths&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madetostick.com\/\">Made to Stick.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s\u00a0a useful exercise applying these principles to presentations generally. Maybe, if we can get it right, our presentations might be a bit more memorable.\u00a0My PPT presentation\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weblearning.co.za\/blog\/demo\/edtech\/4 Ed tech Presenting Linear Information in PowerPoint.ppt\">PowerPoint &#8211; The Good the Bad and the Ugly<\/a>\u00a0 elaborates on these points, and introduced\u00a06 bad things to do and 6 ugly things to include\u00a0in a presentation.
